Images with context and a place to live

Phones have zoomed in our attention to the excruciatingly simple. The quickest, the smoothest, the simplest grabs the most attention, and inevitably the content has followed. And while I love an elegant, minimalistic composition, there is room for so much more. There’s art in context.

I pay a great deal of attention to expressions in my work–emotion is where much begins and ends in narrative–and our surroundings have so much to do with how we feel. The little moments of humor in a wedding shine through, often, with the subject’s realization of the situation they find themselves in.

These are images, in 2026 and beyond, that are meant to be printed in a book: where the space is available, the resolution is greater, and our concentration is more generous. Not coincidentally, my standard deliverables come with a beautiful printed book. I’ve been delighted over the years to see the selections made by my clients for their own books to include these and other images that don’t stand a chance on a smart phone but can luxuriate quietly on the printed page.

Bryan was amazing with getting to know us and our wedding goals to capture it all. We wanted to merge our communities together, build connections between our loved ones, and celebrate our marriage and love. Every single picture Bryan took showed emotion and emulated love. He captured all of our people together celebrating us and really got those candid shots that documented the night, highlighting our community. One of my favorite parts of our wedding was our private session with him for our first look and after our bridal party photos. He made it this really lovely time to connect with each other and just soak in our day and not think about anything else but our love in regards to the wedding. It was just a really lovely mindful time with my partner. At the wedding, everyone loved him, I got so many comments about how he fit right in and was such a good guy. I appreciated how Bryan interacted with our guests and captured all the fun at the wedding.
